Wedding Anniversary Dinner Bangalore
What is autism?
The definition proposed by the DSM-IV:
"pervasive developmental disorders are characterized by widespread severe disturbance in several areas of development:
- Skills for social interaction,
- Communication skills,
- The presence of behaviors, stereotyped interests and activities. "
Why music therapy may be useful as a resource in the development of children with autism?
The qualities that music has to be used as a therapy are described in the previous post.
In this approach we have a population for which the therapy can be useful as a means of communicating with others, stimulating unconscious perception toward the sound. For this we will work towards specific objectives focused on the following aspects: (from Juliette Alvin)
1 - prrimer step music therapy would integrate the child in any form of participation or play musical free improvisation, exercises drivers, etc..
2 - Secondly, the therapist through her work she seeks a way to establish a relationship with the child, bond with him. For this use intermediate objects (musical instruments) to find a contact point and at the same time respecting the patient's space.
3 - You work for the child to express feelings or release emotions anguish, anxiety.
4 - Finally, try to help the patient to interact with peers , etc., Thus developing a facet centered on social interaction.
Music therapy in this case, alternative unha use the music in its dimension of language: as element communication driver, as space expression, such as socializing agent as a means to stimulate interest in the other, seen as a person and not as an object.
The use of music in the therapist-patient relationship serves as a bridge for the child to communicate ideas or feelings.
On the other hand, the fact of making live music with another person makes the child a space to express emotions not normally express through spoken language.
The act of making music enables the child to be connected with reality, to develop qualities such as attention and concentration, and psychomotor aspects, through an instrumental.
The approach of the music therapy sessions to work with people with autism will be unique in each case. This approach should be based on a objectives to meet the real needs of the patient in question and should be done after several sessions of observation of the individual.
